About Me
Having a dream of becoming a successful multimedia journalist, Ekta Poudel packed her bags to United States from Nepal in 2007.
Ekta Poudel was born and raised in a small but a beautiful country, Nepal. Ekta is proud to be called as a Nepali. After completing her high school with a title of Humanities stream topper, Ekta chose United States to continue her further study and embrace a new culture to boost up her personality. She believes, being a student of Walter Cronkite school of Journalism and Mass Communication is the best experience of her life
Ekta Poudel chooses journalism as her passion and career because she wants to help people with the information. She believes that her journalistic skills will help her to bring change in the media culture of Nepal. In Nepal, news staions focus only on hard news. If people need to watch any feature news stories, they have to watch documentary. Ekta thinks that news can be a feature or hard stories. it is not about what you tell the story but how you tell the story.
Ekta brings life experience to all areas of her work & education. She worked as a field producer for Cronkite Newswatch and completed her internship with Maricopa County Video Production and Phoenix's Youth and Education channel. Besides, she has experienced of film making too. She directed, produced, shot and edited a half an hour documentary called “ Changing a Culture” following four high school students directly affected by Arizona's immigrant law. She has also produced, directed, shot and edited a short film “Welcome to Social Media and Social Network” reflecting the positive and negative aspect of Media 2.0.
Ekta Poudel is a multimedia journalist of this generation. She know how to shoot, edit , write and report the news. She believes that journalists need to emabrance technology to catch this fastest moving world .
